Mohawk Ambulance Service is excited to announce a Part-Time Evening EMT (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic) course that will run starting in January 2025!
The class is planned to meet from 6pm to 10pm each Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from January 6th 2025 to April 19th 2025. Attendance at each session is required. Classes will be held at the Central Avenue station in Albany.
The EMT-Basic course is intended for candidates who have not previously held certification as an EMT-Basic and are certifying for the first time.
The Emergency Medical Technician-Basic scope of practice includes patient assessment, treatment of injuries and illnesses, and transporting patients to hospital emergency departments or other destinations. Our EMTs are an important part of the 9-1-1 system in the Capital Region and deliver exceptional patient care 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
Mohawk Ambulance Service offers two enrollment methods for this course:
1. Students can participate in Mohawk's EMT Educational Assistance Program. Students who participate in this program receive the class, textbook, CPR card, and other materials for FREE. Students who participate must commit to work for Mohawk Ambulance for a period (Full-time: 2,080 hours; Part-time: 1,304 hours) beginning after the student graduates, becomes NYS certified, and clears new-hire field orientation. The current full-time, driver-qualified EMT pay rate is $19.32 per hour.
2. Or students can pay for the EMT course in full, $2,750.00, at the beginning of the course.
